MinerLink Frequently Asked Questions

MinerLink is S&T's hub of student engagement. All Recognized Student Organizations, departments, and campus officials use MinerLink to help students find opportunities to get involved, attend campus events, and stay connected. MinerLink is primarily used by student organization leaders to manage their organization's roster, constitution, and events, as well as keep the organization in good standing with the university. MinerLink is the best way for new students to find communities of people with similar interests and learn about what is happening across campus.

The Assistant Director of Student Involvement regulates and manages admin access to MinerLink for users. Only employees (full-time or student) with a legitimate educational or extracurricular need for administrative access receive credentials; examples include staff from the Dean of Students office and the Student Success Center. While S&T has approximately two dozen full-time admins, a handful of student employees from the Office of Student Involvement receive admin privileges to assist with their responsibilities regarding MinerLink administration, organization oversight, and event management. All employees, full-time and student, must complete FERPA training before receiving MinerLink admin privileges.

Requests for admin access to MinerLink must be submitted in email to the Assistant Director by the employee's supervisor with a written justification regarding the need and anticipated use for admin privileges. The Assistant Director reviews all admin access requests and grants or denies privileges on a case-by-case basis. Student Involvement receives HR notifications every time an employee leaves the university or transfers departments within, at which time all admin privileges are revoked or reassessed depending on the situation.
