Homecoming at S&T is a multi‑day celebration filled with tradition, spirit, and community. S&T alumni are invited to return to campus every fall semester to reconnect with peers, participate in festivities, and celebrate the current and future generations of Miners. Events are designed for all to enjoy with multiple interests, from long‑standing campus traditions to new experiences that showcase the best of MS&T.

The first known Homecoming on Missouri School of Mines (MSM) campus was a long weekend in April of 1919. Homecoming included a dance, a student performance, two baseball games, a tennis tournament, and a Commencement Ball with an orchestra. The following year, Homecoming was moved to fall for alumni to reconnect easier. On Nov. 4, 1921, the MSM Alumni Association was formed during the Homecoming celebration, and Arthur D. Terrell, MinE 1898, CE 1898, was elected as its first president. Volunteers soon began building the organization, and alumni sections were formed in major cities across the U.S. The forming of our Alumni Association created the basis for Homecoming as we know it, and MAA plays a major role in bringing alumni back to campus each year for Homecoming. Over the decades, numerous student activities have been conducted on the Rolla campus during Homecoming, from the IFC New Member Pajama Race to a Joe Miner lookalike contest, the biggest addition being the annual Saturday football game. Homecoming has also hosted headliner entertainment performances such as the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Don McLean and 38 Special.

The Homecoming Court is chosen via a vote of the study body leading up to the Homecoming football game. At Saturday's football game, the Homecoming King and Queen are revealed along with the runners-up.

The Homecoming football game is held on the Saturday of Homecoming every year. Tailgating is encouraged in the parking lots outside of Allgood-Bailey Stadium, along with meals hosted by various organizations. A small welcome parade leads students into the stadium to watch the Miner football team defeat their opponent.
Tickets to the game can be purchased via the Minertix Ticket Office.

Honorary Knights are a major component of S&T's St. Pat's tradition in the spring. As Honorary Knights travel back to S&T for Homecoming festivities, the St. Pat's Board invites all Honorary Knights to a reception at a local business in Rolla to celebrate Homecoming and look forward to more good memories to be made.
The Homecoming Legends Luncheon is a banquet designed to honor S&T's many legendary alumni. Held on the Friday before the football game, the Legends Luncheon is hosted in the Hasselmann Alumni House and welcomes back many alumni to witness their peers accept awards given out by the Alumni Association. Awards are designed to recognize outstanding professional and academic achievement amongst the many S&T and UMR alumni helping to make the world a better place.

St. Pat's is S&T's longest-standing tradition, and the Pat's revelry begins every year during Homecoming. On the Friday before the football game, students and alumni alike gather at the Sunnywall next to the University Police station to watch as the St. Pat's Board unveils the next St. Pat's theme and sweatshirt design. This event brings alumni together and serves as the jumping off point for the next tradition following Homecoming.
